State Seal of Civic Engagement

On September 10, 2020, the California State Board of Education adopted criteria and guidance to award a State Seal of Civic Engagement to California students who demonstrate excellence in civics education and participation, and an understanding of the United States Constitution, the California Constitution, and the democratic system of government.

This website is designed to provide and share resources to assist school districts in Los Angeles County with designing and implementing plans to engage students civically, beginning in elementary school to earn the State Seal of Civic Engagement on a transcript, diploma, or certificate of completion in grades 11 or 12.
