Objectives 

The objectives of this slide deck are for participants to:  

• Build an understanding of key terms and concepts on both Pages 1 and 2 of the OPTEL.  

• Connect learning to practice.  

• Make an action plan to continue to build an understanding of key terms and concepts. 

Purpose and Audience 

This presentation does a deep dive into key terms and concepts on the observation tool. These include the following: construct meaning, grade-level complex texts, a level of parity with English proficient grade-level peers and expresses grade-level ideas effectively. The presentation is most appropriate for classroom practitioners and their trainers who already understand the basic components of the tool.
