Objectives 

The objectives of this slide deck are for participants to:

• Identify and define the OPTEL's "extent of support" terms.  

• Understand the terms' roots in an asset orientation to language development in the CA ELD Standards' proficiency level descriptors.   

• Analyze the extent of support in classroom videos.  

• Make an action plan for collecting observation evidence.   

Purpose and Audience 

This presentation helps educators develop a shared understanding of terms denoting “extent of support” on the OPTEL. It is most appropriate for educators with some foundational training in the OPTEL who are ready to dive into these terms on the tool.
